Coreless Disc Permanent Magnet Direct Drive Wind Turbine

In the generator column the “Coreless Disc Permanent magnet synchronous generator” courseware introduces the relevant structure. This section introduces a disc permanent magnet direct-drive wind turbine without core through a model.

The stator armature disk of a coreless disc generator is shown in figure 1. 60 sets of three-phase windings are enclosed in the disk.,this winding structure and distribution are shown in the “Coreless Disc Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator “courseware.

There are two rotor disks in the front and rear of the stator armature disk, figure 2 shows the arrangement of the permanent magnet poles in the front magnetic rotor disc, including 120 permanent magnets and certainly 240 permanent magnets form 60 pairs of magnetic poles in the front and rear of rotor disc. The arrangement and direction of the magnetic poles are shown in the “Coreless Disc Permanent magnet synchronous generator” courseware.

The right side of figure 3 is the corresponding position diagram of the disassembled rotor disk to the stator armature disk. The front rotor disk is in the front of the stator armature disk, and 120 permanent magnet poles are stuck in the front rotor yoke; in similar way, the rear rotor disk is in the rear of the stator armature disk, 120 permanent magnet poles are also attached to the rear rotor yoke.

The left side of figure 3 is a cutaway view of the assembled relationship between rotor and stator, the front disk of rotor is assembled with the rear disk. The stator armature disk is between the front and rear disks of rotor, meanwhile reserves the air gap with the front and rear disks of rotor disks to ensure free rotation of the rotor disk.

The rotor magnetic disk is supported by the rotor disk bracket, and the bracket center is fixed on the rotor hub, as shown in figure4.

The wind turbine base is shown in figure 5. The base is installed on the top of the tower, below the base is the yaw mechanism, which is mainly composed of yaw gears and yaw motors. Main shaft is installed in front of the curved tubular generator base, and the generator base is fixed with a bracket for mounting the stator armature disc along the radial direction of the main shaft.

The stator armature disk is mounted on the stator disk bracket, and the rotor disk is mounted on the main shaft to ensure free rotation of the rotor disk, as shown in figure 6.

The pitch hub is mounted on the front terminal of the rotor disk hub, and the blades are mounted on the pitch hub, where pitch system install as shown in Figure 8.

A spinner is mounted on the rotor disk and the pitch hub, and the spinner and the rotor disk are fixedly mounted to rotate synchronously; the nacelle cover is installed on the rear of the rotor disk, and the nacelle cover is fixed on the base without rotation, as shown in figure 9. A cutaway view of the spinner and the nacelle cover.

The coreless disc permanent magnet direct drive wind turbine has no reluctance torque between the stator and the rotor, because its stator has no iron core, and the starting torque is small, it is particularly suitable for a breeze direct drive wind turbine.
